DESCRIPTION:A Major Contributor to Anemia of Critical Illness \nTrauma and Infection have traditionally been associated with hypercoagulopathy and hence\, infected trauma patients should be less likely to require transfusions for anemia. \nHowever\, our results show a higher need for transfusion in infected patients with infection being the strongest predictor of transfusion in trauma patients after the initial resuscitation period which supports the notion that infection causes a hypocoagulable state at least in the initial phase of infection.
