SUMMARY:Virtual Breakout session 1- 2 p.m. Succession Planning in Trauma Programs
DESCRIPTION:Succession Planning in Trauma Programs \nSuccession planning within a trauma program is integral to maintaining business continuity; verification readiness; improves performance and stability; and protects institutional knowledge.  This presentation aims to describe the different types of succession planning; provide tools to utilize to identify potential future leaders; discuss barriers and solutions to implementing succession strategies; and give an example of what a clinical ladder can look like. \n \n\n\nMican DeBoer MSN\, RN\, CEN\, TCRN   Trauma Program Coordinator–Bronson Healthcare\n\nMican is a registered nurse with nearly 30 years of experience\, spending the majority of her career in the emergency department. Earlier in her career\, she was involved in trauma program work with another organization before transitioning into an emergency department leadership role as a manager. While she valued that experience\, she is especially grateful to have found her way back to trauma program leadership—a field she is truly passionate about. \nOver the past three years\, Mican has been part of the trauma program at Bronson Healthcare\, where she currently serves as the Trauma Program Coordinator for two Level IV facilities in Southwest Michigan. She also contributes to trauma initiatives at the tertiary care center\, Bronson Methodist Hospital. \nMican is guided by the motto\, “Be the change you wish to see in the world\,” which reflects her commitment to continuous improvement in patient care and professional practice. \nOutside of work\, she enjoys camping\, reading\, going for walks\, and spending time with family and friends. \n\nObjective 1: Learner will be able to identify different types of succession planning.\n \nObjective 2: Learner will be able to state reasons why succession planning in trauma programs is important.

SUMMARY:Inaugural Trauma Symposium | Systems & Communities: Bridging the Divide
DESCRIPTION:Overview: The inaugural Trauma Symposium\, hosted by the Henry Ford Health Trauma Recovery Center\, brings together practitioners working with trauma survivors for a day of learning and networking. 55-90% of adults in the US have experienced at least one traumatic experience in their life.
