This course will be virtual.
The Society of Trauma Nurses offers the a one day online interactive Modular Format,
customized to best meet the needs of the individual trauma care provider participants who have varying levels of experience with trauma performance improvement. The course offers practical application for level 3 and 4 trauma centers, from smaller communities with low volume or rural settings. The Modules are taught with a focus on didactic, operational definitions, sample tools, case study examples and take home points.
The course modules presented includes:
Introduction/Course Objectives
Trauma Performance Improvement Patient Safety Infrastructure and Culture
Culture of Safety and Conceptual Trauma Performance Improvement Plan
Event Identification: Audit Filters, Core Measures, CPGs and the Levels of Review
Classification System for Trauma PI Events
Data Management, Foundation of PI Process
Trauma Performance Improvement Reports
Trauma Performance Improvement Committee Structure
Action Plans: Prevention and Mitigation
Event Resolution
Case Scenario Review: Skills Practice

Course Evaluations
Continuing Education Certificates upon completion (CNE and CME)
Continuing Education Credits (5.5 contact hours) for each nurse participant and Continuing Medical Education (5.0 hours) for each physician participant (note: CME is provided by University of Kentucky CE Central)
