Injury Prevention Specialist, Michigan Medicine, Pediatric Trauma
Clarissa is an Injury Prevention Specialist for the C.S. Mott Pediatric Trauma Injury Prevention Program. She attended Eastern Michigan University for her bachelor’s degree and Wayne State University for her master’s in clinical mental health counseling. She is fluent in both English and Spanish and has a deep appreciation for the value of cultural diversity. Clarissa’s focus has been on extending injury prevention education to Spanish-speaking communities. She has worked on the creation of comprehensive educational materials covering various aspects of pediatric injury prevention. These materials have been widely used to educate parents, caregivers, and healthcare professionals on best practices to ensure the safety and well-being of children. Clarissa is a certified child passenger safety instructor (CPST-I). In addition to her role at Mott, Clarissa is a licensed mental health counselor at a private practice working with clients experiencing issues related to depression, anxiety, stress, grief, trauma, and life transitions.
