Laura Walker RN BSN EMT CFRN
Laura Walker started out in EMS while she was in high school as a volunteer on a rural ambulance service. She has been a nurse for almost 30 years with experience in flight, critical care and Emergency room at Covenant Healthcare which is a level 2 Adult and pediatric trauma center. She moved into the Injury Prevention/Trauma Education role 6 years ago. She is a volunteer for Great Lakes Burn Camp serving as the camper recruiter. Laura has a sense of adventure and loves doing outside activities in all four seasons, reading a good crime novel and socializing with friends and family.
Anita Barksdale, BSN, RN, CPST
Anita Barksdale is an Injury Prevention Specialist with Trinity Health Oakland. Anita started her career in Physical Therapy and transitioned to nursing in 2004 as a Cardiology Nurse. After serving as a Nurse Educator for Cardiology, Oncology, Pediatrics, and Cardiac Monitoring Units, for 14 years, Anita began volunteering for a fall prevention program coordinated by Trinity Health Trauma Services. After Volunteering for 3 years, she transitioned to the role of Injury Prevention Specialist. Anita currently serves as MTC’s Stop the Bleed Injury Prevention Subcommittee Chair, as well as an active member of many MTC committees. Anita enjoys crocheting and sewing, volunteering with her family as a champion for people with Autism, serves as youth advisor for her sorority, and coordinates the Pontiac Stork’s Nest Education program for expecting mothers.
