Injury Prevention Committee

The Injury Prevention Committee has members from various trauma centers around the state, and all are working to make injury prevention more visible in Michigan, while dedicating efforts toward reducing the incidence of preventable injury and death throughout the state. The members of the Injury Prevention Committee share success stories and strategies for developing new programs, determining injury prevention needs in their communities (based on local and regional data), creating educational materials, marketing their efforts, monitoring results, and quantifying their success. They also provide mentorship for new Injury Prevention Coordinators.

The Injury Prevention Committee is also responsible for planning an Annual Michigan Injury Prevention Symposium. To that end, they conduct conference calls with members who are planning the details of this annual conference, to gather ideas for speakers and topics, and to finalize an agenda. Check this website for specific details and the location for the annual symposium. For specific details you can reach the 2024 Symposium Chair, Tony Emerick (see contact information below). Meetings are generally conducted by conference call.

For more information about specific injury prevention programs, see the Prevention pages on this website.
