The goal of a trauma system is to get an injured person to the right place at the right time. This system includes both ambulances and hospitals. The ambulances manage how patients get to and from hospitals. The trauma hospitals in the system have extra training to care for the injured. In Michigan, there are eight areas in the state that make up the trauma system.
