What is traumatic injury?

Traumatic injuries require medical attention when they are severe. Here is an example. You can bandage cuts at home if they are small and shallow. You should go to the ER for deep cuts or stab wounds.

Sometimes we don’t know if an injury is severe or not. For example, bleeding can occur inside a body organ and you will not see it. This is where a trauma center comes in. The trauma center will have emergency care immediately available. They will run tests and x-rays to figure out how serious your injuries are. If your injuries are severe, you may need to be transferred to another hospital with specialists who can provide the care you need.
