Identifying Elder Abuse
Older people who depend on someone for daily living are at risk for abuse. Abuse can be physical, mental, or financial. Signs of elder abuse are:
- The person has lost hair, weight, or is looking untidy.
- They have lost interest in their favorite things.
- Their health is worse (with bed sores, bruises, burns, or scars).
- They have unpaid bills.
- They have not been getting medical care.
- Their home and living conditions are not safe.
- They are acting anxious or showing lack of trust.
